Welcome to the Seventh Annual IMTC Miami Conference. The sixth edition brought 354 attendees with 40% of them coming to the coference for the first time. More than 30 countries were represented. The large proportion came from the US (65%) followed by Europe: 6%; Mexico: 6%; Dominican Republic: 5%; Guatemala: 3%. Of all the participants, 70% indicated English as their main language and 29% indicated Spanish. Money Transfer Company representatives were 45% of the attendees, Financial Institutions (Bank & Non-Bank), 22%.

GSMA NFC & Mobile Money Summit

Due to the growing industry momentum behind Near Field Communications (NFC) and the increased adoption of this technology by ecosystem players around the world, the GSMA has expanded the scope of their Mobile Money Summit event to more prominently showcase NFC and its many applications. In 2012 and beyond, the new name of this event will be the GSMA NFC & Mobile Money Summit.
This event will feature two days of exhibition showcase and conference sessions, augmented by two days of invitation-only industry meetings designed to create dialogue around the opportunities and progress for the NFC and mobile money ecosystem. The conference and exhibition will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd and Wednesday, October 24th, with additional meetings and workshops being held on Monday, October 22nd and Thursday, October 25th. The NFC & Mobile Money Summit will bring together key players from every sector of the industry, providing an environment to forge relationships, expand ideas and foster the growth of NFC and mobile money.

GSMA Expands Reach of Mobile Money Transfer Programme

The GSMA today announced new developments in its Mobile Money Transfer (MMT) programme, an initiative that leverages mobile to facilitate access to money transfer services. Complementing the successful alliance that has been in place with The Western Union Company for the past eighteen months, the GSMA has selected Belgacom International Carrier Services (Belgacom ICS) and its technology partner eServGlobal as a new remittance provider in the MMT programme. To add further flexibility for operators, the GSMA has also chosen the RBS Group, a global bank, as a remittance partner and is working with them to finalise the offering.
